Welcome,

Providing police services in a hometown setting in the 21st century has taken on a whole new meaning. Our police officers must be more alert than ever before, regarding the call for some suspicious person or action that has taken place. Living and policing in a post September 11, 2001 era has brought new challenges to the profession.
The City of Aberdeen is located directly adjacent to one of the United States Army's largest test and training commands, The Aberdeen Proving Ground. Our police department and the combined civilian and military police on the army installation work hand in hand ensure that issues of mutual concern are handled in an expeditious and indefinite manner. Light to medium manufacturing plants located in and near the city pose challenges in security that heretofore would not have been considered.
The Ripken baseball complex, containing a top rate minor league

field and numerous other training fields and facilities for the baseball academy requires security and police services that can promote a measure of safety as fans and academy students enjoy America's favorite past time. Additionally, the stadium and expanded complex of baseball fields is the site of the annual Babe Ruth League World Series, which attracts players and spectators from all parts of the world.
Aberdeen is a major transportation hub for the entire county with local & Amtrak rail service, local and long distance bus service, as well as taxicab service. An additional freight rail line, a major US highway, and Interstate 95 all traverse the area of jurisdictional responsibility for the Aberdeen Police Department and thereby provide easy access to all that the City has to offer.
A very effective Community Policing Plan helps to not only facilitate the efficient delivery of services to the nearly 14,000 residents of Aberdeen, but also assists in the continuum of homeland security for all the aforementioned concerns. All members of the Aberdeen Police Department take great pride in what they do any how they do it.
Sincerely,

Randy M. Rudy
Chief of Police
